Temporal afflictions 2021

Temporal afflictions in Feng Shui: how to use them.

For this new year 2021, Tài Suì and Suì Pò, the Sān Shà (or “Three Killings”), as well as the “5 Yellow,” will continue to move this year. Every year, these energies shift, changing direction or location. A few brief points before going further: the branch indicates the animal, and the stem indicates the element. 丑 (Chou) is the branch corresponding to the animal of 2021, and 辛 (Xin) is the stem corresponding to the element of the year. Therefore, the Chinese year 2021 辛丑 is called the Metal Ox Year.

Tài Suì and Suì Pò

Chou 丑 (the Ox) indicates the direction of Tài Suì. Tài Suì is also called the “Deity of the Year.” It is an energy that can bring problems. Its direction lies between 22.5° and 37.5°. In traditional Feng Shui, this direction is called NE1. Suì Pò is in the opposite direction of Tài Suì. Its direction is between 202.5° and 217.5°, and in Feng Shui, it is called SW1. Tai Sui and Sui Po are directions that should not be disturbed, and you should not face them. Pay special attention to the orientation of desks, beds, and other furniture.

Sān Shà

The Sān Shà, or the Three Killings (also called the Three Malices), is a harmful energy whose direction corresponds to five mountains. Since one mountain represents an angle of 15°, the direction of the Sān Shà covers 75°. The Sān Shà is located between 寅 and 辰 , which is in the East (between 52.5° and 127.5°). Therefore, the Sān Shà falls between NE3 and SE1. This is a short-term influence, meaning that if this energy is disturbed, the negative effects will occur very quickly. In this direction, you should not carry out construction work or move heavy furniture. Be especially careful if the Sān Shà is located at the base (assise) of your home. In that case, this restriction applies to the entire residence.

The 5 yellow

We also have the 5 Yellow. The 5 Yellow is part of the San Yuan, which we commonly call the Flying Stars. This harmful energy will be located in the SE. The “Star 5” belongs to the Earth element. In the Five Elements cycle, Earth nourishes Metal. Therefore, to weaken this harmful energy, you need to introduce Metal. A salt cure is considered a Metal element.

It’s good to have all this information, but how do you use it? You would normally place the different Luo Pan compasses at the center of your home and check the directions… But there is a much simpler way. Watch the short explanatory video.
