Orient your front door according to Feng Shui

In Feng Shui, the front door is the most important element. According to Feng Shui principles, our quality of life mainly depends on the flows of energy circulating around us. That is why the layout of our home is so important in this ancient Chinese art. First and foremost, it is essential to properly arrange the entrance, since it is the main point of exchange between the inside and the outside.

The front door : the mouth of Qi

If it is so important to take care of the entrance to your home, it is because it is the Mouth of Qi. It is the entry point for the flow of energy coming from outside. Therefore, make sure to keep your entrance clear so that Qi can enter your entire home. This is what we call the inner Ming Tang. To encourage a good flow of energy, you should also think about clearing the outdoor space in front of your front door. This area should carry Yang energy to energize the Qi that will enter your home. This is what we call the Ming Tang.

The orientation of the front door : a fundamental factor

But if there is one absolutely fundamental point in arranging your entrance, it is the orientation of your door. It is this orientation that will give a favorable—or, on the contrary, negative—direction to the flows of energy entering your home.A change of just a few degrees can radically transform your life by bringing luck and success, simply because the quality of Qi will be better. The orientation can be determined using the Luo Pan, the Feng Shui compass that indicates the most favorable angle for your front door. If you are building your house, you can take this into account from the very beginning. If you already own a home, it is often possible to slightly adjust the door within its frame to align it with the most favorable angle. You will not regret this work when you see the influence of good Qi in your life.

Let’s take the example of a house

The images below show how to analyze the effects we experience depending on the orientation of our front door. By changing the orientation of the front door by just a few degrees, we can move from very good energy to less favorable—or even negative—energy. In the first image, you can see the direction of the house’s front door. In the second image, you can see the directions of the environmental influences acting on the front door. The third image shows the different possible door orientations: very unfavorable, more or less neutral, or beneficial. In green, this front door direction in relation to the environment will bring prosperity, success, and positive opportunities. In yellow, the energies entering your home may lead to stagnation in your projects. In purple, you may experience financial expenses and conflicting relationships. It is up to you to choose the kind of life you want. Wouldn’t it be better to shift the door’s orientation by a few degrees so that the occupants can benefit from prosperity? This is why the orientation of the front door was adjusted. As a result, the residents can take advantage of the positive energies of the environment.
