A Water Dragon in Feng Shui

What Is a Water Dragon in Feng Shui ?

The Water Dragon, Shuǐ Lòng Jīng 水龍涇, refers to the application of very complex and powerful Feng Shui formulas. The goal is to create a flow of water that brings beneficial energy while carrying away negative energy. Among all the formulas, the most important is the “Twelve Growth Phases.” When properly mastered, these formulas can amplify the positive effects of a location. The Twelve Growth Phases correspond to the twelve stages of human life. In traditional Feng Shui, they begin with “Conception” and end with “Extinction.”

1 / Conception
2 / Nourishment
3 / Growth
4 / Bathing
5 / Hat and Belt
6 / Position
7 / Prosperity
8 / Decline
9 / Illness
10 / Death
11 / Tomb
12 / Extinction

Before creating a Water Dragon

Several criteria must be taken into account. The most important one is: making sure your main entrance is properly oriented. What does a properly oriented entrance mean ? It means that your main door is aligned in the right direction according to your surrounding environment. If your entrance is in harmony with the environment, you can be certain that the energy entering your home is beneficial. Under these conditions, it becomes possible to amplify these energies with a Water Dragon.

The Direction of the Door

Once your main entrance is aligned with your environment, we can examine and define the Twelve Growth Phases around your living space. Depending on the sector where the water enters, that area will activate either positive or negative energy. If the water enters from the “Illness” sector, it will not be beneficial for you. Conversely, if the water enters from the “Prosperity” sector, the effects will be much more favorable. Each sector truly reflects its name, guiding how energy flows and influences your home and life.

The knowledge :

Depending on the practitioner's leve of knowledge, the beneficial effects of a Water Dragon may not meet your expectations. You might even experience the opposite effect. This is why some practitioners no longer create Water Dragons—either due to a lack of mastery or unsatisfactory results. Only a few people truly master this knowledge and continue to practice it.

Be careful, choose your practitioner wisely and inquire about their expertise. The stakes are too important to leave to chance.
