Feng Shui and its disappointments

Feng Shui and its disappointments

There are several types of Feng Shui, and as it becomes increasingly popular, we learn new information every day that can sometimes be confusing.

Feng Shui :

I started in 2005 with a Feng Shui training. The research at the time naturally led me to what we now call “Western” Feng Shui. In 2005, we did not distinguish between Traditional Feng Shui, Western Feng Shui, or Yang Gong Feng Shui. I attended a two-week training in the suburbs of Paris, where I met some exceptional people. We continued over several weekends. There were eight of us, and all eight of us left before the end of the training. The Feng Shui that focused on career sectors, fame sectors… for everyone, did not suit us.

The traditional :

At the beginning of 2006, I was looking for a new Feng Shui training, which I found in Paris. Very cautious, I did my research and began the new training—this time in Traditional Feng Shui. I had just learned that there were two radically different methods. Naturally, I was disappointed and upset with the first teacher who had trained me. In fact, this experience is what ultimately allowed me to truly understand Feng Shui. That person had learned Feng Shui and, in good faith, shared it with us. Having attended several Traditional Feng Shui courses simultaneously, once I completed them, I thought I knew everything about Feng Shui. Trained by competent teachers, some of whom are recognized worldwide, I was confident I had received the best training available. I told myself it was still possible to gain additional insights by learning from other practitioners.

Yang Gong Feng Shui :

In 2015, an acquaintance returned from China and told me about a training he had just completed. It was a different approach from what we were doing. Another new Feng Shui—yet there are supposed to be only two, Traditional and Western! I had already heard about the Feng Shui of the emperors. After discussing it, I learned that my friend had taken this training. It was Yang Gong Feng Shui. This acquaintance had just been trained by someone I was following on Facebook. She worked on tombs, houses… and she had students. I absolutely had to take this training. I was fortunate to go in 2017 and attend it. Initially, I thought what I had learned before would be useless, and that this new training would be just another course with no value. That was not the case. In my eyes, the two trainings are complementary. Moreover, if you do not study Traditional Feng Shui first, you can never take this training in China.

Learning never ends

Feng Shui is an ancient art that we are continually discovering more about. It is therefore normal for new information to arrive regularly, and it can sometimes be unsettling. At times, we may feel disappointed when we realize that our knowledge is not as certain or definitive as we once thought. To avoid disappointment, remember that the study of Feng Shui never ends. China may not have revealed all of its knowledge yet—there may still be more to discover.
